Linen 'n Things →
Nice observation. Speaking of the Notification Center, have you seen it on the iPad? Haha. It looks horrendous. Divide the notifications in their own little “widgets”. Utilize the available space for God’s sake. The table/list view is evidently not tailored for the iPad. I don’t understand why they didn’t make it more like the Dashboard on Lion. It is after all,...

Sinatra →
Sinatra is a DSL for quickly creating web applications in Ruby with minimal effort. I hate Ruby, but this web framework is awesome. I gave up on Rails. That’s how I ended up with Sinatra.

Misfits →
Meet Kelly, Nathan, Curtis, Alisha and Simon, five unruly teenagers forced to do community service as payback for their crimes. When a freak electrical storm hits their town, strange things begin to happen to them and they soon realize they’ve turned into superheroes. New favorite TV show. I heart Robert Sheehan (Nathan). Kinda sad to hear that he will not be returning for the third series.

Wow, I haven’t been on Tumblr in forever. I don’t even know why I had it in the first place. Writing was never my thing. Then sharing. I hate my own writing. But I did love creating my own themes, layouts, or whatever you want to call them. And with the recent changes and additions I might just get back into it. I never did finish this theme (Julliet).

Thanks to books
Theme designers stop fucking it up. The grayed out buttons are counterintuitive. It just doesn’t feel right. Hell, even the Firefox guys haven’t gotten it right. They’re at their fourth iteration and it’s unbelievable how this haven’t been addressed yet. Facepalm.

Massive earthquake hits Japan →
An 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit off the east coast of Japan early today. The quake — one of the largest in recorded history — triggered a 23-foot tsunami that battered Japan’s coast, killing hundreds and sweeping away cars, homes, buildings, and boats.

Post type pages
Here’s an idea. Different pages that returns the type of post requested. You can create tag pages and even day pages, but I’m puzzled why Tumblr doesn’t have post type pages. I’m sure this is possible with their API, but why not make it easier for theme designers? David. Reblog this if you approve.

It’s all too often dismissed as fate Situation number four
It’s the one that left you wanting more
It tantalized you with it’s bait

OS X Lion Interface Tweaks →
On hidden scrollbars: One problem this poses is being unable to tell the size of the document without scrolling just a little bit, or hovering the mouse over the scrollbar area. I don’t get what the big deal is. In Cocoa Touch scroll views have this method called flashScrollIndicators that momentarily displays the scroll indicators. I think it’s even suggested in the interface guidelines...

Dieter Rams: ten principles for good design →
Back in the early 1980s, Dieter Rams was becoming increasingly concerned by the state of the world around him – “an impenetrable confusion of forms, colours and noises.” Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design?

Simplexity →
“Simplexity” is a term devised by the creators of Up which means “the art of simplifying an image down to its essence. But the complexity that you layer on top of it-in texture, design, or detail is masked by how simple the form is.” Up’s designers wanted to push the envelope to see how far they could go in expressing the essence of a figure or setting — creating a caricature where the key...

Proofreading in Pages
Although Pages already has a built in proofreader, it’s not always foolproof. I discovered another proofreader in Pages. It’s the text-to-speech tool. Just select a chunk of text, secondary click, “Speech”, and “Start Speaking”. While the system voice is reading it, something might sound funny and you can correct it from there. Note: Text-to-speech is available in most Mac OS X application...

Calculator is almost to the point of being useless. The problem is the interface, it emulates a real-life calculator when it can be much more by being simpler. The interface is suitable for a touch device but not on a point-and-click interface. One of my biggest gripe is that I can’t even see the whole operation. This is inherited from a real-life object where the previous operand disappears after...
